Turquoise Art Brooch. Van Gogh Jewellery. Art Gift

A square shaped, handmade, springtime inspired brooch. Inspired specifically by the artist Vincent Van Gogh. Perfect for gifting someone loved and special or for treating yourself. Finished with Pin back, silver-plated steel, with locking bar lead and nickel free, the brooch is backed with black felt. Each brooch is individually made and unique and therefore may vary slightly from image shown. Please avoid contact with water. Dimensions c. 4.3cm approx. each side and c. 5mm in depth. This wooden brooch has been made from FSC wood, sustainable wood. When designing jewellery our idea is not simply to make a beautiful object, but also to create a talking point, to provoke curiosity, to begin a conversation. Blossom branches against a turquoise sky were one of Van Gogh’s favourite subjects. Almond trees flower early in the spring, making them a symbol of new life. Van Gogh borrowed the subject, the bold outlines and the positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese printmaking. The painting was a gift for his brother Theo and sister-in-law Jo, who had just had a baby son. In the letter announcing the new arrival, Theo wrote: ‘As we told you, we’ll name him after you, and I’m making the wish that he may be as determined and as courageous as you.’ Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 –1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art.
