Albrecht Durer Blue Roller Wing Mismatched Wood Earrings

A pair of mismatched art earrings inspired by the Wing of a Blue Roller by Albrecht Dürer — a masterpiece of Northern Renaissance naturalism painted in 1512 and now housed at the Albertina in Vienna. In the original watercolour, the wing is set against a light background; here, Obljewellery reinterprets it against a deep black ground, a deliberate creative choice that makes the extraordinary spectrum of blues, greens and turquoises of the plumage stand out with dramatic contemporary intensity. The details matter: one earring bears Dürer’s iconic “AD” monogram, while the other carries the year of creation printed in red — a quiet homage to the artist’s meticulous practice of signing and dating his works.

Entirely handmade in our studio in Granada, Spain, from sustainable wood sourced from FSC-certified suppliers. Please note that while the raw material comes from FSC-certified sources, the finished piece is not itself an FSC-certified product. With 925 sterling silver hooks and a weight of just 6 grams, these earrings are exceptionally lightweight — designed to be worn all day without discomfort.
