Ideal City of Urbino Renaissance Unisex Wood Brooch

Wear a fragment of the Renaissance. This handmade sustainable wooden brooch is inspired by The Ideal City of Urbino — one of the most extraordinary Italian Renaissance panel paintings, attributed to an anonymous central Italian artist, ca. 1480–1490. The painting depicts a harmonious, symmetrical city square in perfect central perspective: two octagonal wells in the foreground, a grand circular religious building at the centre, and Renaissance noble palaces lined with polychrome marble. Two doves perch on a cornice. No human figure appears — only an eternal, silent perfection.

Originally from the Monastery of Santa Chiara in Urbino and likely connected to the ducal family of Federico da Montefeltro, the panel is now housed at the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche inside the Ducal Palace of Urbino. Its sister panels are at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and the Bode Museum in Berlin.
