Theo van Doesburg (1883 – 1931) was a Dutch artist, who practiced painting, writing, poetry and architecture. He is best known as the founder and leader of De Stijl. The De Stijl group had Theo Van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian at the center of the art movement. In April 1921, Van Doesburg began teaching at the Bauhaus and started to incorporate influences from Russian Constructivism, in particular, the prominent use of diagonal lines."
